"Where Angels Fear to Tread" as reviewed in the Guardian on 30 August 1905

http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2002/aug/13/fromthearchives.classics

From the review:
"The results of the trick are at once fantastic and inevitable. The whole is a piece of comedy, as comedy is understood by George Meredith. We wonder whether EM Forster could be a little more charitable without losing in force and originality. An experiment might be worth trying."

What a Carve Up! by Jonathan Coe is the most loved read of our first round!!

What a lovely evening we had! Many thanks indeed Anja for hosting it and cooking such lovely lasagne for us all...Raka and Heather's puddings were lush and we even had some pink bubbly wine to celebrate thanks to Sara and her new job: congratulations!!!!.

Well, well, well...We have a winner for our first round and that is Anja's choice "What a Carve Up!", novel that we discussed and analised with great passion last night. Sara's choice "The Year of the Flood" was very much appreciated too and came close second ...
